Alert rules and recovery

Configure sustained destination conditions and inspect stored events.

Open Alerts…, or use Settings → Alerts & notifications → Apply & edit alert rules / history….

Create a rule

Enter a name, choose a condition and threshold, and set evaluation, cooldown, and recovery periods. Choose All targets, Selected target, or Selected group, then click Add rule. Adding, removing, and enabling/disabling a rule saves it immediately. A workspace supports up to 200 rules.

ConditionEvaluation
LatencyDestination average latency exceeds the threshold in milliseconds
PacketLossDestination diagnostic response-loss percentage exceeds the threshold
JitterDestination jitter exceeds the threshold in milliseconds
UnreachableDestination does not return a successful measured response
RouteChangedConfirmed route-change event; threshold and sustained periods do not apply
RecoveryReports recovery after an outage has lasted the evaluation period

Latency, PacketLoss, and Jitter use destination history within the evaluation window. A breach must persist for the evaluation period before firing. A continuing breach can fire again after cooldown. A normal condition must persist for the recovery period before a recovery event is emitted.

The editor starts with PacketLoss, a 5% threshold, 30-second evaluation, 300-second cooldown, and 10-second recovery. The underlying new-rule model defaults to a 10% threshold; use the displayed editor values when adding a rule. Evaluation and recovery fields accept 0–3600 seconds; cooldown accepts 0–86400 seconds.

Diagnostic alerts are not proof of traffic loss

Rules evaluate probe responses. Filtering or rate limiting can suppress diagnostics while user traffic still forwards. Local probe errors neither trigger a network outage nor recover an active network alert.

Events and acknowledgment

The event log contains persisted alerts, recoveries, confirmed route changes, and action results. Select an event and choose Acknowledge selected event to record an acknowledgment timestamp and note. Acknowledgment records that you reviewed an event; it does not disable the rule or resolve the network condition.

Native delivery and external actions use separate notification/action spacing. Suppressing delivery does not remove stored monitoring events.
