Graphs & History
Zooming, panning, and selection
Navigate history precisely with a mouse, trackpad, or keyboard.
Mouse and trackpad
| Action | Result |
|---|---|
| Drag a graph horizontally | Pan and hold the view at a historical timestamp |
| Double-click and drag | Select a time interval |
| Command + wheel on macOS; Ctrl + wheel on Windows | Zoom around the pointer |
| Shift + wheel, or horizontal wheel/trackpad scrolling | Pan horizontally |
| Pinch/magnify | Zoom on supported touch/trackpad input |
Ordinary vertical wheel scrolling is available for scrolling the graph stack. Zoom spans are limited to 5 seconds through 7 days. Navigation is bounded by available measurement timestamps.
Keyboard
Click a graph to give it keyboard focus.
| Key | Result |
|---|---|
| Left / Right | Pan by one tenth of the visible time span |
| + / − | Zoom in / out around the center |
| Escape | Clear the selected interval |
| Home | Return to Live and clear selection |
The default time range is 10 minutes. The time-range selector offers 1, 5, 10, and 15 minutes; 1 and 6 hours; 1 day; and 7 days. Pointer zoom can create a custom time range.
Investigate an interval
- Pan to the event or zoom around it.
- Double-click and drag across the interval you want to compare.
- Read the Selection label to confirm its start and end timestamps.
- Inspect the hop table, which recalculates statistics for the selected interval from retained history.
- Use Clear Selection or Escape to clear it. Use the Live button or Home to resume the live view.
Clearing selection preserves zoom and the held timestamp. Returning to Live also clears the selection. Earlier route addresses and probing configurations can appear in selected statistics; do not assume the latest hop table describes the entire session.
