Pngr
Getting Started

Windows installation

Install Pngr for your Windows account.

Install Pngr

  1. Open the Pngr releases page and choose the current stable release.
  2. Download Pngr-Setup.exe.
  3. Close an existing Pngr instance before continuing.
  4. Run Setup and follow its welcome, progress, and completion screens.
  5. Open Pngr from the Start Menu or desktop shortcut and follow the quick start.

Setup installs for your user account without administrator access. It creates shortcuts and an uninstall entry. The package includes the .NET runtime.

Windows security prompts

Current installers are unsigned. SmartScreen may warn or block launch. Use Windows' normal approval interface only if you trust the download. Pngr does not bypass these protections.

Installer and updater assets

Choose Pngr-Setup.exe for installation. Release assets such as releases.win-x64.json and .nupkg files are used by the updater, rather than being standalone installer choices.

Portable v0.7.0 ZIP builds and source-checkout builds require migration using the installer before automatic installation is supported. See updating Pngr.

Your data

Installed builds keep local settings and session history in:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\TraceScope

The TraceScope directory and tracescope.db filename retain compatibility with older data. Application updates preserve this separate user-data directory.

TCP and UDP hop discovery

Windows raw-socket access can require explicit elevation for TCP and UDP intermediate-hop responses. Endpoint monitoring remains available without that access. Inspect Pngr's capability warning before assuming an empty hop table is a network fault. See ICMP, TCP, and UDP.
